P-51 D Mustang - Full Interior (Pre-Painted Version) is a plastic kit in 1:35 scale from the maker Border Model. It has a worked-out interior and some of the parts come painted.

The 1:35 scale is unusual for aircraft and Border Model is one of the few brands to have introduced it for fighters. The advantage is plain: in this scale a model has room for interior equipment that would be too small in the usual aircraft scales. This box goes further still and offers a version in which some of the parts come painted, so the finest brushwork falls away.
The North American P-51D was the most widespread version of the Mustang and the fighter that, thanks to its great range, escorted American bombers all the way to targets deep inside Germany. Against the earlier versions it was given a bubble canopy with a lowered rear fuselage spine, which opened up the pilot's view aft, as well as six machine guns in the wing and a powerful liquid-cooled engine with the radiator in a ventral fairing. It was precisely the combination of range, speed and visibility that made it one of the most successful fighters of the war.
Pre-painted parts do not mean you will not touch a brush: the edges and the add-ons still have to be tuned and the joints covered. Finish the inside of the fuselage before you close it up, and keep test-fitting dry to see that the halves still meet. Mask the glazing before spraying. The natural metal finish of a Mustang is demanding: it calls for a perfectly smooth and glossy base, onto which lacquer metallic shades are then laid in several different tones so that the panels are not uniform.
The model is supplied unassembled. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
