The Panhard 178, designated AMD 35 (Automitrailleuse de Decouverte) in service, was the most widespread and best-known French armored car of its day. It came about as a reconnaissance vehicle for the cavalry, had the engine at the rear and drive to all wheels. The main armament was a 25 mm anti-tank gun supplemented by a machine gun. Series production began in the middle of the 1930s and more than five hundred were built before the French capitulation in 1940. French units put the cars into action during the fighting of 1940, and some of the captured machines were later used by the German army as well.
With a wheeled vehicle take care over the correct seating of the axles and the alignment of the wheels, so that the model stands straight. Paint the broken-down interior and the engine before you close the hull up. French vehicles carried a characteristic multicolor camouflage with dark bands - it pays to mask soft transitions with an airbrush. Build the weathering with panel shading, dark washes into the seams and dust pigments on the wheels and the lower areas.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
