The Bergepanther is a German armored recovery vehicle of the Second World War period built on the chassis of the Panther tank. It came out of a practical need: heavy tanks bogged down in the field or were left standing after a breakdown, and ordinary half-track tractors were not enough to pull them out. The vehicle therefore received a winch, a spade blade at the rear and a cargo compartment instead of a turret. Its silhouette is as a result different from the combat version at first glance and it looks unusual in a modeling collection.
On vehicles on the Panther chassis the running gear with its large number of road wheels is the most laborious part; it pays to paint them before fitting them to the model and only then to deal with the tracks. The interior and the inner surfaces of the cargo compartment are done before the hull is closed. The large vertical sides take a lightening of the middle, so that the model does not look flat. Weathering has its logic on a recovery vehicle: the most dirt collects around the blade, on the lower part of the body and in the vicinity of the winch. Use mud and dust at two levels and finish with dry brushing on the edges. If the kit also contains figures, finish them separately and set them on the model at the very end.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
