Trumpeter 1:35 Sd.Kfz.165/1 Geschützwagen IVb for the 10.5 cm leFH 18/1 is a plastic kit of the German self-propelled howitzer from the Second World War.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the German self-propelled gun from Trumpeter, in 1:35 scale. The subject is the Geschützwagen IVb, pairing a modified chassis derived from the Panzer IV with a light 10.5 cm field howitzer. The set includes cast hull parts, photo-etched sheet and tracks; check the exact part count and decal schemes against the instructions in the package.
The Geschützwagen IVb was an attempt at mobile infantry support with a leFH 18/1 field howitzer mounted in an open, angled armored superstructure with limited traverse. Only a small series of prototypes was built and field-tested on the Eastern Front in 1942. The vehicle is among the early, low-production experiments with accompanying self-propelled artillery in the Wehrmacht.
For vehicles of this type, it pays to assemble and finish the running gear and the hull interior before closing up the whole vehicle. Use thin modeling cement on the plastic, even out the base with a primer, and apply paint with an airbrush. The open fighting compartment is rewarding for toning with washes and pigments for dust and mud effects.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
