Metal Barrels for the Maus Tank, 1:35

A set of turned metal armament barrels for a model of the German Maus super-heavy tank in 1:35 scale. It is not a model but a set of replacement parts. The Maus carried a main weapon in its turret with a second, smaller one alongside it, so the set covers both at once. A metal barrel has a genuinely drilled muzzle and an exactly round cross-section, and it has no parting line.

Building and painting tips

Drill the holes in the turret to the diameter of the shanks, so that the barrels seat squarely and parallel. With a pair of barrels side by side, any misalignment is immediately visible from the front, so look the assembly over before the glue dries. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Degrease the parts and apply a primer before painting. A metal barrel is heavier, which does no harm on a heavy model, but it is worth balancing the turret.
