A resin tool box (Werkzeugkasten) for the Panzer III and StuG III in 1:35 scale replaces the simplified plastic part. An accessory for a built model, not a kit.

A resin tool box (Werkzeugkasten) for models of the German Panzer III tank and the StuG III assault gun in 1:35 scale. The sheet-metal locker was carried on the real vehicle outside on the hull or on a fender and held the crew equipment. On injection-molded kits it tends to be simplified: the lid merged with the body, the hinges only suggested, the walls too thick. A resin print holds crisp edges and riveting.
The Panzer III was created as the main German battle tank of the late 1930s, and its chassis proved so usable that from 1940 the StuG III assault gun was built on it as well. The two types therefore shared a large part of the hull, the running gear and the external equipment, including the tool box. Crews stowed wrenches, pry bars, spare parts and personal belongings in it, and its position moved during production: depending on the version and the plant you will find it on a fender, at the rear or above the running gear.
Cut the supports and the remains of the print raft away with a sharp scalpel over a mat; do not break them off. Level the cut with a file or a sanding sponge under water so that no dust is raised. Wash the parts in warm soapy water before painting and let them dry. They are bonded with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue); polystyrene cement will not join resin. Paint then holds considerably better over primer.
This is an accessory for modifying a model, not a kit of the vehicle. The parts are supplied unpainted; the base kit, the glue and the paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise. Check the exact contents on the box.
