An injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet nuclear missile submarine K-19 in 1:350 scale from Zvezda. The box contains the hull with the conning tower, a multi-part mast for the tower, a stand with a nameplate and decals.
K-19 was the first Soviet nuclear submarine armed with ballistic missiles carrying nuclear warheads, launched at the beginning of the 1960s. She belonged to Project 658, designated the Hotel class in the West, that is to the first generation of Soviet nuclear missile submarines. The boat became known for a serious reactor accident during her first cruise, in which the crew prevented a meltdown of the core at the cost of being irradiated, which also became the subject of a well known film. It is exactly this story that makes the model an impressive piece with a history.
Glue the hull with thin cement for plastic and sand the parting seams down carefully. Assemble the multi-part tower precisely, so that the periscopes and the masts sit correctly. Lay down primer and then matte black to dark gray shades for the hull, with the deck set apart. Apply the decals over a smooth surface. Fine emphasis of the hatches with a thin wash will give the model more depth.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
