This injection-molded plastic kit from the Ukrainian maker ICM captures the luxury Opel Admiral convertible in 1:24 scale. It is not a simplified curbside model: the box contains a fully detailed inline six-cylinder engine, a complete drivetrain and a chassis with both the front and the rear axle. The modeler can choose between a raised and a folded canvas roof.
The Opel Admiral was introduced in 1937 as an attempt to compete with the large luxury cars of Horch, Mercedes-Benz and Maybach. It was offered as a four-door sedan as well as a convertible, it was powered by a 3.6 liter inline six-cylinder engine and it reached a speed of around 132 km/h. It was built only briefly, until the outbreak of the war.
Because of the detailed engine and chassis, building in sub-assemblies and painting with an airbrush over a primer are the answer. Finish and paint the interior and the drivetrain before the body is closed up. Finish the glossy body with a clear coat and leave the chrome trim until the end so that it does not get damaged.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
