About product

Revell ocean liner Queen Mary 2 (1:400)

This injection-molded plastic kit from Revell captures the famous ocean liner Queen Mary 2 in 1:400 scale. Even in this scale it is a large model: the finished ship measures around 85 cm in length. Thanks to its size and its fine detail the kit is demanding and is intended for more experienced modelers. The exact number of parts follows the given edition; according to the manufacturer the box also contains a stand.

The real subject

The Queen Mary 2 is a British ocean liner (transatlantic) that entered service in 2004, one of the largest passenger ships of her day. Unlike ordinary cruise ships she is built as a true liner for regular crossings of the Atlantic, with a robust hull and a high speed. She is a symbol of the return of classic transatlantic travel.

Building and painting tips

Assemble the two-part hull and the main decks first; the numerous fine railings and superstructures call for patience and clean gluing. Spray the large hull areas with an airbrush for an even surface and mask the color transitions. Mount the ship on the enclosed stand and glue the fine elements at the very end so that they are not damaged.

Who the model is for

  • Collectors of large ocean-going ships and liners
  • More experienced modelers who will appreciate an extensive project
  • Lovers of civil maritime history

The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.

FAQ

A British ocean liner (transatlantic) from 2004, one of the largest passenger liners, built for regular crossings of the Atlantic.

Even in 1:400 scale it is a large model: the finished ship measures around 85 cm in length, so count on having plenty of room to display it.

Rather not; because of its size and the number of fine parts it is a more demanding project suited to more experienced modelers.
