Injection-molded plastic kit of the German Messerschmitt Bf 109F-4/R6 fighter in 1:48 scale from ICM. Compared with the basic F-4, this version adds the Rüstsatz 6 field kit, that is two cannon gondolas slung under the wings. The kit offers finely engraved surface detail, a well worked-out cockpit, an engine and a segmented clear canopy.
The Bf 109F-4/R6 was based on the aerodynamically refined Friedrich version with the DB 601E engine, fuselage machine guns and an MG 151/20 engine-mounted cannon firing through the propeller hub. The Rüstsatz 6 field kit added two gondolas with MG 151/20 cannon under the wings and so increased the firepower against bombers considerably. The greater destructive power came at the cost of poorer agility and higher drag, yet it was a popular modification.
Use liquid cement for plastic and build in subassemblies. Finish and paint the cockpit and the engine before you close up the fuselage. Lay down a primer and apply the paints with an airbrush. Fine-tune the underwing gondolas and fit them only after the wings are painted, so that the transitions stay clean. Treat the canopy glazing with masks.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
