An injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet Polikarpov U-2/Po-2 biplane in 1:48 scale from the Ukrainian manufacturer ICM. The larger 1:48 scale leaves room for detail in the cockpit and the engine and is rewarding for painting the fabric covering.
The Po-2 (originally the U-2) appeared at the end of the 1920s as a simple trainer and became one of the most widely built aircraft in the world. Besides training it served as a liaison, ambulance and agricultural machine, and during the Second World War also as a light night bomber. Its reliability and simplicity gave it an exceptionally long working life.
On a biplane, pay attention to the seating of the upper wing and the struts; dry-fitting pays off. Use liquid cement for plastic and cyanoacrylate on the small parts. Apply a base coat before painting. The fabric covering comes out well with a light hint of the ribs and a discreet wash.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
