An injection-molded plastic kit from a new tooling depicts the German night fighter Dornier Do 17Z-10 from the Second World War era. The model in 1:72 scale from the Ukrainian manufacturer ICM offers a finely rendered surface, a glazed nose, and a detailed engine section, plus a decal sheet. It is an interesting reworked version of the well-known twin-engine aircraft.
The Dornier Do 17Z-10 was the night-fighter version of the twin-engine Do 17 bomber. It was created by reworking the nose to concentrate heavy onboard armament there, and some aircraft carried early equipment for night target-finding. The aircraft served with German night-fighter units at the start of the night air war and was built only in small numbers.
Before closing the fuselage, paint the cockpit and the glazed nose, which you should mask thoroughly. It is practical to paint the engine nacelles and propellers separately. The night camouflage needs an even matte finish; highlight the panel lines with a light wash. Clean up sharp edges and thin parts with a gentle touch.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints, and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
