German airfield grass pavers 1:48, smaller format from Uschi van der Rosten: a cut-and-assemble set printed on card sheets.
Responsibility details are not available.
Concrete pavers with openings through which grass grows are absolutely characteristic of German field airfields of the Second World War. They firmed up the ground under the wheels, but at the same time hid the airfield visually, because the surface stayed green. On a diorama it is an element that places a machine in its setting at once. This set is worked out as a cut-and-assemble kit: all the elements are printed on fine A4 card sheets and you assemble the area from them.
According to the manufacturer the package contains three fine card sheets with printed pavers, a bag of fine gravel intended to be mixed with acrylic modeling paste, and instructions. The paste and paints are not included. The area corresponds to roughly 14 x 19 centimeters.
Cut the elements out with a sharp scalpel on a cutting mat and assemble them dry before you glue anything: only while assembling will you see how the area joins up. Glue the card with PVA glue onto a flat base and weigh it down so that it does not buckle. Gravel mixed with paste fills the joints and the transition to the surrounding terrain. Add the grass growing through the openings with static grass or small tufts. Leave the edges of the area irregular, because on a real airfield the pavers also ended somewhere in churned-up mud.
The set is supplied unpainted. Modeling paste, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
