F-14A Tomcat, IRIAF 3-6020, Khatami 1987 is a finished die-cast collector model in 1:72 scale from Century Wings in the version of an Iranian machine. A limited edition of 1500 pieces.
Responsibility details are not available.
A finished model from the Wings of Heroes line, not a kit. Mostly metal alloy with plastic parts and tampo-printed markings that will not fade and will not peel off the way decals do. The manufacturer limited the edition to 1500 pieces.
The F-14 Tomcat was a two-seat carrier-based fighter with a variable-geometry wing, the AWG-9 radar and long-range AIM-54 Phoenix guided missiles. The F-14A version had TF30 engines. The Iranian Air Force was the only export customer for the type and received its machines before 1979; after the change of regime it was left alone with them, without American support, and even so it kept them in service for decades.
Machine number 3-6020 has a special place in that history: in May 1981 it was the first Iranian Tomcat to fire on a Soviet-supplied MiG-25. The TFB 8 base near Isfahan, which bears the name Khatami, is the home of the Iranian Tomcats to this day.
The model renders machine 3-6020 as it looked in 1987, that is during the Iran-Iraq War. The line includes a display stand for showing the aircraft in flight, an opening canopy with removable crew figures, a swing wing, interchangeable extended or retracted landing gear and removable external stores with descriptive labels.
This is a finished item, not a kit. Check the version, the state of assembly, the painting and the extent of the package on the box.
