Handles, grab handles and control levers belong among the elements that injection-molded plastic in a small scale manages only roughly: they tend to be too thick, to merge with the surface, or to be missing altogether. Replacing them with finer parts is one of the simplest ways to move a model forward. They will find a use on hulls, on hatches, on toolboxes and in the interiors of vehicles, if those are open to view. Because the set is not bound to one machine, the remainder can be put aside and used on the next build.
Work over a light-colored base and with tweezers with fine jaws. Separate the parts with a sharp scalpel by drawing it, not by pressing. Mark the position out beforehand with a pencil or a needle, because once the glue is applied there is no time left for adjustment. Dose the cyanoacrylate glue through a wire dipped into a drop. They are easiest to paint before separation; only the cut face then needs touching in. Levers and handles come out most of all when you set them apart in tone from the surface they sit on and get a faint shadow under them.
