An injection-molded plastic model of the Soviet fighter aircraft Polikarpov I-16 type 24 in 1:72 scale from the Ukrainian manufacturer ICM. The kit is supplied unassembled and unpainted; it is a classic plastic kit to be glued and painted. You will find the exact package contents and the range of markings in the enclosed instructions.
The I-16 was a Soviet single-seat low-wing fighter with retractable landing gear and a barrel-shaped fuselage, one of the first modern fighters of its era. The type 24 version was among the later and highest-performing modifications: it was powered by the stronger M-63 radial engine of around 900 horsepower and compared with the earlier versions it received landing flaps, a tail wheel and a strengthened structure. It was used in the opening fighting on the Eastern Front.
Paint the cockpit and the radial engine and pick them out before closing the short fuselage. With the barrel-shaped sides take care over clean filling and sanding of the seams. Apply the base over primer with an airbrush; the typical gloss metal or camouflage finish comes out well with a fine wash into the panel lines and a discreet patina from the exhausts. The small wing surfaces can be fitted with the weapons only after the base has been sprayed.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
