Kit of the US M45 Quadmount anti-aircraft mount of the Second World War in 1:72 scale from the Ukrainian brand Armory. The box describes the assembly as four 12.7 mm machine guns in a rotating mount on the M20 trailer. The box holds two sprues of gray plastic and one photo-etched fret; some of the important parts are the etched ones, which makes the kit better suited to more experienced modelers. It is a small but rewarding model that comes into its own in a scene with a vehicle or with figures.
The M45 was a rotating mount with four heavy machine guns that the US Army introduced for defense against low-flying aircraft. The gunner sat between the weapons and traversed the mount by electric drive, so he could follow a fast target. The assembly was fitted to a halftrack as well as to a two-wheeled trailer, which let it be towed behind a truck and set up wherever it was needed. As the air threat weakened toward the end of the war, these quad mounts were aimed more and more often at ground targets, where their density of fire earned the weapon the nickname Meat Chopper.
Bend the photo-etched parts over a metal ruler and glue them with cyanoacrylate glue; in tight spots it pays to apply it with a pin. The machine gun barrels are the most vulnerable part in 1:72 scale, so handle them with care. Paint the mount separately, before you seat it on the trailer, which also gives you access between the weapons.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
