Avro Manchester is a monograph of the British twin-engined heavy bomber from the Warpaint series, volume No. 103. The volumes of the Warpaint series combine the history of one type with an extensive photographic section, with color profiles of camouflage schemes and with drawings in 1:72 scale.

A publication, not a kit. Volume No. 103 of the Warpaint series, by the author Tony Buttler, follows the little-known Manchester from its design through its short combat service to its role as the predecessor of the Lancaster.
The Avro Manchester was a British twin-engined heavy bomber with two Rolls-Royce Vulture engines. The twenty-four-cylinder Vulture turned out to be unreliable and short of power, so the type was withdrawn after less than a year of combat service and only just over two hundred were built. The airframe itself was not bad, though: after the wing was lengthened and four Merlin engines were installed it became the Avro Lancaster, one of the most successful bombers of the war.
For modelers of British bombers looking for a less usual real subject and a source for choosing markings, and for readers with an interest in the development road to the Lancaster. As a source it serves for choosing camouflage and markings and for checking the details that differ between individual versions. It can be read on its own, without previous knowledge of the real subject, and it also works as a general survey of the type.
