A publication, not a kit. Volume No. 96 of the Warpaint series, by the author Ian White, goes through the design, development and service of the Liberator; it is one of the more extensive parts of the series.
The Consolidated B-24 Liberator was an American four-engined heavy bomber with the narrow Davis wing, twin vertical tails and Pratt & Whitney R-1830 Twin Wasp engines. More of it was built than of any other American military aircraft. Besides the daylight raids over Europe and over the Romanian oil refineries it had a decisive share in closing the gap in the mid-Atlantic, which patrol aircraft had previously been unable to reach.
For modelers of American heavy bombers who are working out the differences between the D, H and J series and between the nose turrets, and for readers with an interest in the air war over Europe and over the Atlantic. As a source it serves for choosing camouflage and markings and for checking the details that differ between individual versions. It can be read on its own, without previous knowledge of the real subject, and it also works as a general survey of the type.
