An English-language monograph from the Warpaint aviation series, published by Guideline Publications. The text was written by Kev Darling. It is not a kit but a publication on the first successful carrier-based jet fighter of the US Navy. The volume follows the development of the type, the individual versions and service with the navy and with the Marine Corps.
The Panther had a straight wing with tip tanks and a single turbojet. It was not the fastest, but it was sturdy and reliable and it took a hard landing on deck, which made it the main carrier-based fighter and attack machine of the Korean War. Aerobatic teams flew it, as did a number of pilots who later made their name elsewhere. The swept-wing Cougar then grew out of the type, so the Panther stands exactly on the border between the first carrier-based jet attempts and a genuinely mature generation.
For modelers of early carrier-based jet machines and for readers interested in the air war in Korea. It also suits as pictorial material to go with models of other naval aircraft of the period. The text is in English. Check the extent, the arrangement and the language edition on the box.
