A publication, not a kit. Volume 36 of the aviation series from the British publisher Warpaint Books, written by Steve Hazell, is devoted to the Handley Page Victor. The text is in English and the softcover format is close to A4.
The Victor was the third of the British V-bombers and is recognizable at a glance by its crescent wing, whose leading edge has three different angles of sweep. That shape was meant to keep favorable handling at high altitude and at high speed alike. The prototype flew in 1952, the B.1 version flew with Armstrong Siddeley Sapphire engines and the later B.2 received more powerful Rolls-Royce Conway engines and a greater span. The Victor finished rather early in the role of nuclear weapon carrier, but it proved an outstanding aerial tanker: the converted K.1 and K.2 aircraft served with the RAF until 1993 and refueled combat aircraft in the Persian Gulf conflict of 1991 as well. A few aircraft flew in the strategic reconnaissance version.
For modelers who build the Victor as a bomber or as a tanker and need to tell the versions and their markings apart, and for anyone interested in the British air arm of the Cold War and in air-to-air refueling equipment. The extent of the volume is not stated here; the page count differs between the individual titles in the series.
