Hawker Tempest Mks.II to VI is a monograph on the British fighter and its versions II to VI. It came out in the British Warpaint 55 series, which devotes each volume to a single aircraft type and sums up its development, service and appearance in a single booklet in A4 format. The publication is in English. It is not a kit and not an accessory for building a model.
The Tempest followed on from the Typhoon type, but it was given a new thin wing that gave it substantially better performance. The Mk V version with the H-24 Napier Sabre engine was among the fastest piston fighters at low altitude and stood out in shooting down V-1 flying bombs. The Mk II version had the Bristol Centaurus radial instead of the H-24 engine and no longer made it into the fighting in Europe. The last Mk VI was given a more powerful Sabre.
The book is meant for builders of British fighters and for anyone interested in the closing phase of the war in Europe. The combination of photographs, drawings and color schemes serves as a basis for building and painting a model.
