LifeColor Painting Guide #1

LifeColor Painting Guide, volume one

A publication, not a kit and not a paint. It is an A4 format modeling guide published by Mr Black Publications in cooperation with the paint manufacturer Lifecolor. It teaches painting and weathering step by step: every article is built on photographs of the individual stages, and for the subjects the specific Lifecolor paint codes are given, so the procedure can be repeated exactly. There is no model and no paint in the package.

The focus of the first volume is the painting of figures. The main article leads the reader through the building and painting of a Soviet woman sniper of the Second World War in 1:35, including the diorama setting, so alongside skin, eyes and uniform it also addresses the base and the surroundings of the figure. The second extensive part is devoted to German figures of the same period. The volume also opens the subject of civilian vehicles and the imitation of rust, mold and decay, which then continues in the next volume. The author of the main article is Christos Katselos.

What the volume contains

• building and painting of a Soviet woman sniper in 1:35 with a diorama setting
• painting of German figures of the Second World War
• the first part of the procedure for rust, mold and decay on civilian vehicles
• photographs of the individual stages with the Lifecolor paint codes given

Who it is for

For modelers who want to see the whole painting procedure from the base coat to the weathering, and especially for those who work with Lifecolor paints and want the shade codes right next to the photographs. It suits builders of figures as well as of hardware; a beginner will understand the sequence of layers from it, an advanced modeler will take specific effects from it.
