An English-language monograph from the Warpaint aircraft series published by Guideline Publications. The text is by Andy Evans. It is not a kit but a book about the first production machine designed for a reduced radar signature. The volume takes the reader from the design work through combat service to withdrawal from use.
The shape of the F-117 did not come from styling but from calculation: when it was designed, the reflection could only be computed off flat surfaces, which is why the skin is faceted. The result was a machine that flew subsonically and reluctantly, yet was very hard to detect by radar. It had two engines without afterburners, a single pilot, and carried its weapons in internal bays so as not to spoil its signature. It was created in a classified program and officially the public did not know about it for years after it was already in service; it was used in several conflicts from the end of the 1980s.
For modelers building the F-117 in any scale and for readers interested in late Cold War aviation technology. It also helps with the choice of shade for the black finish, which varies a great deal across photographs. The text is in English.
