Round hollow profiles of ABS plastic with an outside diameter of 8 mm and a length of 250 mm. A hollow profile has two advantages over a solid rod: it is considerably lighter, and a wire, a lead or a thinner profile can be run through it, so what you get is a real tube and not just an imitation of one. Of the common diameters 8 mm is the larger one, so it suits prominent structural features.
ABS cuts and sands well. Cut the tube with a fine-toothed saw and then true the cut up so that it seats squarely; scoring and snapping does not work on a hollow profile. It is bonded with super glue or with an adhesive intended for ABS; ordinary polystyrene cement works on a different principle, so do not count on its effect with this material. Degrease the surface and apply primer before painting. Take care when bending it with heat, as a hollow profile is easily crushed at the bend.

The knife can slip while cutting, so work on a cutting mat and draw the blade away from your body. Keep offcuts and dust out of the reach of children and ventilate the room when sanding.
