A package of five round acrylic profiles 1.6 millimeters in diameter and 25 centimeters long in fluorescent blue. The material is clear and colored all the way through, so it glows along its whole length in the light and needs no treatment at the cut. The rods are easy to shorten to the length you need.
Acrylic is best cut with a fine-toothed saw. Cutting with pliers breaks the edge and leaves white cracks in the material. Level the cut with a fine file and polish the face, and the clear material will not look milky at the end. It is glued with super glue, which can leave a white haze on acrylic, so apply it drop by drop. For the best glow do not varnish the rod, as paint suppresses the effect.
A diameter of 1.6 millimeters is thin enough for the stand not to be distracting and at the same time stiff enough to carry an ordinary figure.
