The Airbrush Fixed Distance Air Cap is a Gaahleri air cap that rests against the surface and keeps a constant distance between the needle tip and the part being painted.
Responsibility details are not available.
The front part of this cap rests directly against the surface being painted, so the distance between the needle tip and the part stays the same throughout. That removes one of the most common causes of an uneven film: the hand unconsciously moving closer and farther away during a stroke.
It gets on splendidly with stencils and masks, where an even width of the sprayed line along its whole length matters. It helps with repeated elements such as numerals, stripes and markings, and wherever you need to cover a small area evenly. And it serves beginners well who are still training a steady hand, because it takes one variable out of the equation. It does the same job on models that are awkward to hold and leave no comfortable place to rest a forearm.
The resting part touches the surface, so work only on a perfectly dry coat, otherwise you will press a mark into it. Wipe it after every section so that it does not carry paint along. On fine raised detail such as rivets or antennas there is nothing to rest on, so reach for the ordinary version there. And bear in mind that a fresh coat of varnish needs more time before anything can rest on it again.
Please check before ordering that the part matches your gun. It is supplied on its own.
