The air cap sits right at the front of the body of an airbrush and decides how the air stream meets the paint at the tip of the needle. This variant works with the classic round pattern, that is a cone-shaped spray, which is the most universal one for modeling work. At the same time it protects the tip of the needle, one of the most vulnerable parts of the whole tool.
A single drop of the tool onto the edge of a table is enough to bend the rim. The damage is often barely visible to the naked eye, but it shows up in the result at once: the stream veers to one side, the paint spits or lays down unevenly. Dried paint deposited inside causes the same trouble. A spare therefore belongs in the kit of anyone who spends more than a few hours a month spraying. Anyone working with several shades in one session will appreciate a second one simply because they can leave one soaking and carry on.
Let the cap soften in cleaner and remove residues with a soft brush, never with a sharp wire. Handle the needle tip carefully and put the tool down in a stand, not on the tabletop. Ventilate while working with cleaners and thinners and protect your skin.
