The package contains vacuum-formed (vacuform) clear canopy parts in 1:72 scale for a model of the Ilyushin Il-2 Shturmovik, in variants for the early and the late form alike. It is not an aircraft kit, but a stand-alone accessory. The clear, thin-walled material replaces the thicker part from the box and greatly improves both the view into the cockpit and the overall realism. The way the parts are divided usually makes it possible to display the canopy in the open position.
The Ilyushin Il-2 was the legendary Soviet ground-attack aircraft of the Second World War, built in enormous numbers. It was marked by an armored bathtub in the fuselage protecting the pilot and the engine. Early machines were single-seaters; later ones received a second crew member with a rearward-firing defensive gun, which is reflected in the different shape of the glazing.
Choose the part matching your variant, cut it out with a small margin and sand the edge to an exact fit. Bond it with canopy glue for clear parts or with a minimum of super glue. Mask the frames before spraying; handle the thin material carefully so that it does not deform.
This is a modeling accessory, not a kit. Glue, paints and masks are not included in the package.
