The shade is called literally ATOM COLOR Orchid in its name and within the ATOM range it stands in the violet group right next to amethyst. Orchid is an established designation for a lighter violet with a pink cast – it is gentler and less dramatic than purple, yet still clearly colorful. On models and figures it is used where violet is meant to act lightly: on the highlights of cloth, on flowers and plants, on fine effects.
The paint is meant above all for figure painters and players who build transitions inside a violet palette and need the lighter member of the range. It will also serve modelers of dioramas, where orchid suits flowers and small vegetation. In the violet group of the range darker tones follow on from it, so shadow and highlight can be built smoothly.
Stir the bottle before opening it and during the work as well, so that the shade stays even. Build the paint up gradually in thin coats – you will get a more even surface and keep the detail of the surface. It pays to make a test coat on an offcut, above all when you combine the shade with shading or with glazes. Take the method of application and the drying time from the manufacturer's instructions on the packaging. Work with good ventilation and keep the paint out of the reach of children.
