ATOM German WW2 U-Boot acrylic paint set

A themed set of water-thinnable acrylic paints of the ATOM line from AMMO, put together for models of German submarines (U-Boot) from the period of the Second World War. The shades match the typical camouflage and coloring of the hull and the superstructures of these vessels. The paints are self-leveling, quick-drying and suitable for brush and airbrush alike. These are paints, not a kit.

Chemistry and thinning

ATOM paints are water-based (acrylic). They are thinned with water or with the acrylic thinner recommended by the maker, and the brushes are cleaned with water. In behavior they come close to a lacquer and form a durable film, but they are not solvent lacquers or enamels.

Use

• Shake the paint thoroughly before use.
• Lay it on in thin coats, and thin it slightly for an airbrush if need be.
• The shades can be layered and rounded out with weathering for the effect of a hard-worked hull.
• Once dry they can be overcoated with further acrylics and with weathering products.
