Responsibility details are not available.
An A4 softcover publication in English from the pen of Ken Wixey. The publisher is Warpaint Books Limited and the volume carries number 21 in the series. The series devotes each part to one aircraft type and, besides history, brings reference material for modelers as well. It is not a kit and not an accessory but a book.
The Whitley was one of the three twin-engine bombers with which the Royal Air Force went into the Second World War, and its machines were the first to carry British bombs over Germany. Its unmistakable feature was the pronounced nose-down attitude in flight, which the wing incidence gave it. When four-engine types replaced it in the front line, it went on serving with Coastal Command against submarines, towed gliders and trained paratroopers, so the modeler meets it in roles outside the night raids as well. For building a model this means several different guises: early versions with other engines, late machines with a turret in the tail and coastal aircraft with different finishes. That is exactly why with this type it pays to have the drawings and the profiles together before the gluing starts.
For modelers who build the Whitley and are looking for reference on camouflage and markings, and for readers interested in the British air force. The text is in English; the drawings in 1:72 scale and the color profiles are of use even without reading.
