Socket head bolts with a large washer in the 0.8 to 1.2 mm range

An add-on set of fastening hardware for models. The head is made with a recess for an internal hex and an enlarged washer complements it. The package carries several sizes from 0.8 to 1.2 mm, so it covers the upper part of the dimensional family at once.

What you gain with a range

On a single machine not all socket head joints are the same size, and a model benefits from that difference being kept. With a range you pick the larger dimension for conspicuous places and the smaller one where the detail is only to complete a shape. The second advantage comes when moving between scales: what is a small joint on a larger model can serve as a bold element on a smaller one, and the other way round.

Building tips

• Sort the sizes after opening; on a workbench they are hard to tell apart.
• Before gluing, hold two neighboring dimensions dry and decide by how they look in place.
• Leave the recess in the head clear; do not flood it with glue or thick paint.
• Install only after the seams have been sanded and the surface primed, otherwise the detail disappears under the paint.
• Check the recommended method of fixing in the manufacturer's instructions and apply the glue with the tip of a needle.
