Large sets make sense where a modeler does not want to put a palette together step by step and would rather get a complete basis at once. This one is among the most comprehensive that can be bought in a single box: it covers military tones, flesh, earth shades, metals and auxiliary preparations. The plastic case with compartments keeps the bottles standing and in order, which quickly proves its worth with such a high number of items. It also does away with the most common trouble of large collections, namely bottles rolled away all over the table.
Alongside a wide spectrum of covering paints there are also items that are not paint in themselves. Three varnishes in gloss, matte and satin guise serve to seal the surface, the thinner to adjust the consistency and the metal medium to prepare a metallic base. The metal group is made up of brass, gold, silver, bronze, copper and gunmetal gray. The rest of the set covers shades from whites and ochers through earth browns and olive greens to dark blues and grays, so there is plenty to mix from.
With so many bottles it is good to settle on your own system of ordering right after unpacking and to stick to it, because looking for a particular tone takes more time than the painting itself. The paints are thicker in nature and are thinned for an airbrush; for a brush they can be used straight from the bottle. The dropper caps help with dosing drop by drop, which makes it easier to repeat mixes of your own shades according to a written-down ratio.
