The U-STAR bender for etched parts in the basic form holds an etched part in an exact position, so that it can be bent in a sharp edge and exactly where it should be.
Responsibility details are not available.
Etched parts are thin metal surfaces that are bent into shape during a build — steps, brackets, covers, instrument panels, railings. Bending them in the fingers or with tweezers means a rounded edge, a part out of angle and often a broken joint. A bender settles that simply: it clamps the part along the whole length of the future edge, so that the bend arises exactly in place and is sharp.
What a bender can improve
Lay the part in so that the line of the bend is flush with the edge of the tool, clamp it firmly and only then fold the material over — slowly and in one movement. Metal does not like being bent back and forth repeatedly; after a few cycles it cracks at the place of the bend. Before you reach for a part from the kit that is hard to replace, try the procedure out on a waste part of the etched fret. Clean and degrease the part before bending; it then glues and paints better as well.
Check the dimension of the working surface, the number of jaws and the material of the tool on the packaging. The same line also includes higher variants.
