Two canoes with two pairs holding paddles in them. A canoeing scene in a ratio of 1:87 for a river or a lake on a layout.
Responsibility details are not available.
The canoeing scene is made up of two separate boats with one pair in each of them, paddle in hand. The figures are therefore firmly tied to the action: they are not sitting on the bank but in the middle of a run. The set thus solves a situation modelers often do not know what to do with on areas of water, as an empty surface reads as dead.
A river under a bridge, a lake beside an embankment or a bay by a recreational halt are among the most rewarding areas of a layout. Human movement on water gives scale to the whole surface and at the same time suggests that this is a calm stretch suited to paddling rather than a wild river. The canoes also anchor the viewer's gaze where you want to lead it.
A ratio of 1:87 is the size most layouts are built to, so the boats match the surrounding buildings and vehicles. The ideal is to set them at a slight angle to the bank rather than parallel with it.
The impression of a run is created by a small wave at the bow and a light shadow under the hull; both can be managed with a few drops of modeling water or clear varnish applied once the boats are in place. If you are still building the surface, sink the boats into it before the last layer sets, as a canoe floating on top is spotted at first glance.
