The character is given as a captain, that is as a type whose character tends to be carried by dress and small badges rather than by large areas. Wash the casting in lukewarm water with dish soap and let it dry. Cut the casting blocks off with a sharp knife a little way from the part and sand the remainder back; never snap small projections off. Take the parting seams off with a scalpel drawn flat, so as not to catch the relief. Glue with super glue and fill the gaps with putty. After a thin primer, lay the base colors down and only then deal with the detail, because in this format it pays to highlight the edges, that is to draw a thin lighter line along the sharp edges, since that is what the eye reads from a distance. Do the small badges and fittings last, with a thin brush with a good point and heavily thinned paint in several coats. Use any wash deliberately into the hollows, not over the whole area, so that the fine relief does not disappear.
