A modeling scribing knife with a sintered carbide edge. Carbide holds its edge considerably longer than tool steel, so it suits scribing and cleaning up grooves.
Responsibility details are not available.
Sintered carbide is a sintered hard metal, that is a material much harder than ordinary tool steel. The point therefore does not round off so quickly and keeps a sharp track even after longer work. The knife is aimed at tasks where a precise groove has to be led or a small amount of material taken off: restoring engraving lost after sanding and filling, cleaning out grooves, refining the shape of a small detail, scraping surplus away in a poorly reachable place.
Scribe with light repeated strokes, not with one deep one. Carbide is hard but at the same time brittle: it does not understand sideways pressure and leverage, and the point will break under them. Lead a straight line along a ruler or along tape stuck onto the part so that the knife does not stray. Pull toward yourself and after each stroke remove the material pushed out to the edges, otherwise the point will start to skid over the unevenness. Give the finished groove a light pass with fine abrasive paper so that it stays clean.
Protect the point from impact and store the tool so that it does not knock against other tools. Wipe the blade dry after work. An ordinary stone will not touch blunted carbide; it is sharpened only with a diamond one, and even there proceed gently.
The tool is supplied on its own. Kits, abrasive paper, paints and other tools are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
