Chibi-Maru Fleet Musashi is a cute shortened kit of the famous Japanese battleship Musashi from the Chibi-Maru line by the Japanese manufacturer Fujimi. This is not a scale model — the ship has deliberately distorted, comically shortened proportions and builds up easily and quickly.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Chibi-Maru line of the Japanese manufacturer Fujimi brings well-known warships into a cute, deliberately shortened form. The Musashi model is therefore in no scale — the hull is shortened, the superstructures enlarged and the whole comes across as a likeable caricature of the real ship. The result is small, fits on a shelf or a desk, and the build takes only a few evenings.
Musashi was the second completed battleship of the Yamato class, the largest battleships ever built. She carried a main armament of 46 cm and served the Imperial Japanese Navy from 1942. She was sunk in October 1944 during the fighting for the Philippines after repeated air attacks in the Sibuyan Sea.
Thanks to its smaller number of parts the kit is suitable even for less experienced modelers. Separate the parts with sharp nippers and lightly sand the marks left by the sprue gates. For painting, a brush and basic shades are enough — gray for the hull, a darker shade for the decks and black for the funnel. A fine dark wash will bring out the detail of the superstructures.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
