Diamond Shape Palette Knife is a modeling spatula from AMMO of Mig Jimenez with a diamond-shaped blade, suited to detailed work with putties and compounds and to mixing paints.
Responsibility details are not available.
This item is neither a model nor a paint but a tool. A palette knife, as these spatulas are called, is used in modeling for mixing paints on a palette and for applying and shaping thick compounds. This one has a diamond-shaped blade, that is a shape with a converging tip and straight edges that reaches even where a wide rounded blade would get in the way.
Keep the tip of the blade clean, otherwise the compound starts to tear and the surface will not be smooth. With compounds that set, it helps to dip the blade in water now and then or to wipe it lightly with a release agent. Wipe residue off at once while it is soft; once cured, it comes off only mechanically. With the straight edges of the blade the edge of applied putty can be leveled nicely, so that no sanding is needed.
For modelers who build dioramas and work with putties and compounds, and for those who mix their own shades. In this range of tools the blades differ in shape. The diamond shape is the choice for detail, for corners and for smaller areas. A rounded teardrop rendering, conversely, serves better on larger areas and for smoothing, so you choose the shape by the kind of work, not by the brand.
The tool has a metal blade. Work carefully and keep it out of the reach of children.
