This is a modeling aid, not a kit. The pack holds twenty pieces of abrasive material die-cut to a uniform shape, with an adhesive layer on the back. The backing is not ordinary paper but TPU, that is thermoplastic polyurethane. It is flexible, takes bending over an edge as well as damp and does not fall apart as quickly as a paper backing, which the manufacturer gives as the main strength of the range.

Use

• A piece is peeled off the sheet and stuck onto a sanding plate, a sanding stick or another rigid holder that keeps the surface flat.
• 1200 grit belongs among the finishing stages. It comes in only after the coarser papers have leveled the joints, the remains of the sprue gates and the puttied areas.
• Typically it removes the scratches left by around 800 grit and prepares the surface for a filler primer, so that no lengthwise scratches appear under the paint.
• Thanks to the flexible backing it also sands slightly convex surfaces, cowling transitions and rounded edges well.
• Brush the sanding dust away as you work or lift it with adhesive tape. Clogged paper stops cutting and starts to polish the surface.

Who it is for

For modelers who want their sanding organized into a system and do not want to cut sheets into pieces every time. It pays off where there is a lot of puttying and resanding, typically on older tooling, resin parts and conversions. The fine grit is also useful for leveling a surface before glossy areas are painted.

Do not breathe in the sanding dust, work in a ventilated space and use a respirator for longer sanding. Sandpaper is a consumable; its life depends on the pressure and on the kind of surface being sanded.
