AK Interactive Dust - Oil Paint 20 ml (Dust Shade)

Dust is an oil paint for modelers from the Abteilung 502 range by AK Interactive, supplied in a tube with a volume of 20 ml. It is a thick artist's oil paste with a high pigment content - it is not a ready-to-use wash and not an acrylic. You thin the paint yourself according to how strong an effect you need: from an almost invisible filter to a pronounced deposit of dust. The formula of the range has a reduced binder content, so the dry film is flat and looks naturally dusty.

The Dust shade is among the most used in oil weathering. It is a neutral light tone of settled dust that slides neither toward yellow nor toward pink, and it therefore suits practically any basic scheme - green, gray, sand or camouflage.

Use

• Simulating settled dust on upper surfaces, hoods, turrets, wings and landing gear.
• Dust filters that unify a color scheme and soften the contrast between camouflage patches.
• Dusting the lower parts of vehicles, fenders, running gear and wheel arches.
• Streaks and rainmarks - vertical strokes drawn down the surface with a clean brush and thinner.
• Picking out engraved detail and edging where dust really does settle.
• Mixing your own dust tones with ocher and brown oils.

It is applied in small dots on a fully dry and ideally varnished surface, which are then blended and drawn out with a clean brush dampened in mineral spirits or odorless thinner. The slow drying of oils gives you plenty of time to fine-tune the effect, mute it or wipe it away entirely until you are satisfied.

Who the paint is for

For modelers of military vehicles, aircraft, dioramas and figures who want convincing dust weathering with full control over the intensity. Thanks to its forgiving slow drying it suits those taking up oil weathering as well.

Safety notice: oil paint based on drying oils, thinned with organic solvents. Work in a well-ventilated room, avoid contact with the eyes and skin, keep out of the reach of children. Let rags soaked in oil paint and thinner dry spread out flat; do not store them crumpled up.
