The translucent pieces are melted and poured into a prepared bed, and with that the whole procedure ends. Nothing is weighed, no two components are mixed and there is no waiting until the next day, because the surface sets within a few minutes. Anyone who steers clear of two-part resins has the shortest way here to water on a diorama.
The advantage is the depth of a single pouring. A pond, a stream, a river branch and a harbor basin can be poured all at once without the material having to be dosed in thin layers with pauses. The manufacturer gives the coverage exactly: the content covers 154 square inches at a thickness of one eighth of an inch, that is roughly 990 square centimeters in a layer about three millimeters thick.
A finished surface can be warmed up again with a heat gun and set in motion. Ripples, the crests of waves and rapids arise this way, and scratches that got into the surface while the model was being handled disappear by the same means. The compound is non-toxic and gives off little smell during the work. The volume of the package is 16 ounces, 473 milliliters converted.
The bed has to be perfectly tight before pouring, because the hot compound finds even a hairline gap. Work with a hot material belongs in the hands of an adult and on a mat that can take heat.
