Earth Effects from AK Interactive

A liquid weathering product from the classic solvent-based AK Interactive line, intended for creating dried earth on the lower parts of a model. It is not a powdered pigment and not an acrylic paint – it is a ready, slightly gritty liquid with a neutral brown earthy tone that you only need to stir, apply and adjust. It is thinned with mineral spirits, not with water, and it is precisely this property that makes the whole line such a rewarding tool: once dry, the coat can be softened and partly wiped away at any time, so you can fine-tune the result even several days later.

Use

• Deposits of earth on the bottom of the hull, on the fenders and in the running gear
• Dusty and muddy insides of wheel arches and suspension recesses
• Earthy deposits in seams, on steps and around the edges where mud is thrown up
• Creating the transition between a clean area and the dirty underside of a model

Who it is for

The product will be used by modelers of military vehicles, trucks and construction machinery who want their model not to look as if it had just come out of the mold. Shake the bottle well before work – the gritty component sinks to the bottom and without stirring you will apply only colored binder. Apply it with a brush in sections and take off any excess with a brush moistened in mineral spirits while the coat is still wet. For a more three-dimensional effect it helps to apply the product in two stages: a first thin coat as a base, and a second applied in spots where earth would really build up. Let the base coat cure thoroughly beforehand and preferably give it a clear coat so that corrections do not damage it.

A solvent-based product. Work in a well-ventilated area, protect it from open flame and keep out of the reach of children.
