A photo-etched (PE) detail set in 1:72 scale from Eduard, meant to refine the model of the carrier-based F/A-18D Hornet fighter from the Academy kit. This is not an airplane model but an accessory (an aftermarket set) - to build it you need the basic injection-molded Academy F/A-18D kit. Photo-etch adds fine parts that injection-molded plastic cannot capture faithfully.
Photo-etched parts usually refine the cockpit and the airframe: instrument panels, side consoles, seat belts and small surface features. The result is markedly richer and sharper detail in the places where the thickness of the plastic is obvious at first glance. The exact content matches the given package.
Bend the photo-etched parts over a sharp edge or in a photo-etch bender and glue them with cyanoacrylate or with a special photo-etch glue. Degrease bare (unpainted) photo-etch before painting and prime it; the colored self-adhesive parts are not oversprayed, so that they keep their color. Work with tweezers and in good light, the parts are small.
