An injection-molded plastic kit of the Japanese fighter Nakajima Ki-43-II Hayabusa (Type 1 Fighter, Allied reporting name Oscar) in 1:48 scale from the Japanese manufacturer FineMolds, known for accurate and finely detailed kits. The model depicts the Ki-43-II modification — a version with a more powerful engine and shortened wings. Check the exact package contents and decal schemes against the manufacturer's part number for this item.
The Ki-43 Hayabusa (Falcon) was the standard fighter of the Imperial Japanese Army Air Force and one of the most numerous Japanese fighters of the war. It was powered by a Nakajima radial engine and stood out for its exceptional agility thanks to its light weight and combat flaps; it was armed with a pair of synchronized machine guns. The Ki-43-II version brought a more powerful engine, shorter wings, pilot armor, and self-sealing tanks. Because of its similar silhouette, the Allies often mistook it for the naval Zero.
Cut the parts from the sprues and glue clean joints with liquid plastic cement. Paint and highlight the cockpit interior before closing the fuselage. Japanese army aircraft carried various camouflage finishes — from bare metal to green mottling on the upper surfaces; after gloss varnish and decals, highlight the panel lines with a wash and add typical paint chipping.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints, and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
