An accessory set in 1:48 scale for a model of the MiG-21F-13 aircraft, intended for the kit from Trumpeter.
Responsibility details are not available.
The MiG-21F-13 is an early production version of the well-known Soviet fighter. You recognize it at first glance: a slender fuselage with a circular air intake in the nose, in which a movable center cone sits, a delta wing and, against the later versions, only a low spine behind the cockpit. The canopy hinged forward and, when the pilot left the machine, served him as a shield against the blast of air. The armament consisted of a cannon and short-range infrared-guided missiles. This very version was also built under license in Czechoslovakia, at Aero Vodochody, where it carried the designation S-106, so the type has a well-documented service history there.
The set is prepared for the MiG-21F-13 kit in 1:48 scale from Trumpeter. It is an accessory, not a stand-alone model, so the kit has to be at hand. What exactly the package contains and in what order the parts are fitted is given by the manufacturer's instructions.
With accessories for kits it pays to try them in place before you reach for the glue; that shows you how much material has to be taken off the plastic. Fit everything that goes inside the fuselage or into the cockpit before you close the fuselage up and put the canopy on. Wash and degrease the parts before painting. Choose the glue according to the material of the parts, as polystyrene cement holds only on the plastic of the kit.
For builders of jet fighters in 1:48 scale who want to take a model beyond what the box offers. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
