A model of the Honda motorcycle carried under the factory designation NC04 and the trade name Super Hawk 3R, in its 1981 form, in 1:12 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The subject is a Japanese road motorcycle from Honda, carried by the maker under the factory code NC04 and offered under the name Super Hawk 3R; the year 1981 pins down the version. Road machines of this generation were built on a simple, legible line: an unfaired engine in the middle of the frame, a teardrop tank, an enclosed chain drive and chrome details that made up a substantial part of their appearance.
The 1:12 scale is the most widespread one for motorcycles, and for good reason: a motorcycle has no bodywork to hide anything, so a larger scale allows the frame, the engine and the cable runs to be shown. A machine two meters long comes out at just under seventeen centimeters in this scale, so the finished model takes up little room in a display case and still carries the detail.
With motorcycles the order of the work is what counts. The frame and the engine are painted before they are brought together, because once they are glued a brush can no longer reach the inner surfaces. Spray the tank and the side panels in thin coats and let them harden properly; only then come the decals and the final gloss clear coat. Do not glue chrome parts with ordinary cement for plastic, which attacks the chrome; use a small amount of cyanoacrylate glue (super glue) and apply it with the tip of a wire. Finally set the wheels so that the model stands on both tires and the stand without leaning.
For modelers who build road motorcycles and for collectors of Japanese machinery of the 1980s. Paints, glue and clear coat are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
