A flexible sanding sponge from the soft sponge range of the Taiwanese brand Madworks. The 600 grit is the most versatile one in the span: it wipes out the scratches from coarse sanding while no longer taking material fast enough to remove a scribed line or a sharp edge. The soft carrier foam follows the shape of the part, so no flat facets are sanded into a domed surface. The sponge can be cut into smaller pieces that reach into grooves and between details.
For modelers who want one sponge to hand for most of the work. The 600 grit is a sensible first buy from this range: for coarse removal a grit around 360 is added to it, and for finishing a surface before paint a grit of 1200 and finer. It suits plastic, resin and cured putty alike. If you build injection-molded kits and mostly sand seams and marks from gates, this coarseness will cover most of what you need to do on a model, and for the rest it is enough to add one coarser and one finer step.
Do not inhale sanding dust from plastic and resin, wipe the surface as you go and ventilate during longer work; with resin a mask is always in order. Do not leave the sponge in solvent or in glue.
