Five finished model conifers from the German maker HEKI, eleven centimeters tall. A spruce has a slender conical crown with branches set densely from the ground up, so a spruce wood looks dark and impenetrable, unlike a light-filled pine stand. That is exactly why it is handled differently on a model: nothing should grow under spruces and the trees stand close together.
The trees are pushed into pre-drilled holes or glued by the foot of the trunk. In a spruce wood set them close together, the crowns may well touch, and leave the ground beneath them covered only with needles and perhaps dry twigs. Keep the spacing irregular and vary the heights. Spread the flattened branches carefully with your fingers after unpacking and keep the conical shape.
For builders of layouts and dioramas with coniferous forest and for modelers building mountain landscape. The five small trees can be supplemented with taller and shorter conifers of the same brand, extending the forest gradually. A dark stand also suits hiding structural parts of a layout, because the eye notices them least among needles. This is modeling material, not a toy. The manufacturer marks its scenery products as unsuitable for children under fifteen.
